Managing Time

As someone who plans every second of their day out on a calendar and has a to-do list for every day on top of that, I think it is safe to say I value my time massively. Despite all the planning, I tend to spend a lot of time worrying whether I have time to do all the things I still haven’t managed to fit in and constantly question if this is what I should be doing with my time. For me, this is a never-ending battle with myself and one I face daily.

Learning to manage your time is one thing, but learning to be content with how you spend your time is something completely different.

Every day I’m trying to learn how to be more patient with myself and learn how to stop worrying about if I am spending my time correctly and focusing on the task at hand. Trying to focus on a few main areas in my life rather than trying to sort out everything at once. There is no point in spending all this time trying to plan my time if this s only going to cause me to be more overwhelmed.

I still take a lot of time planning my day and it has taken me years to find the right tools to do this. I love using apps on my laptop that automatically sync with my phone as it means I can plan whether I am sitting on my laptop in between a blog post, or on my phone scrolling when I have an instant thought of something I need to fit into my schedule.

Regardless, 24 hours never feels like enough time. I am typing this as I’m edging dangerously close to my bedtime as I need to wake up in the morning to go to my 9-5 which even though is a job I love, it is still a job that pays the bills and funds my dreams.

It’s hard not to think about what you could be doing with those 8 hours a day that you give away so you can afford to exist. There is no specific point I’m trying to make here, but simply to highlight there needs to be some change.

What exactly that change will be, I don’t know at the moment. I know I am not alone in feeling like this. I would love to hear about some changes you have made in your life to better manage time and even better, how you manage to be content with how you spend your time.
