Being a creative person with a passion for a variety of outlets is exhausting, to say the least. Sometimes trying to find that creative outlet can be hard and finding the right way to cure that itch to create something you love and want to share. However, there have been times when the need to find something I can relate to, rather than create myself, has felt more necessary to calm that need.
I remember this blog I used to read years and years ago. I remember the blog was run by two girls, I believe who lived in New York, and would give advice on various situations. From the day their blog went live, they became very popular and in my teens, I enjoyed reading their posts so much.
I tried finding their blog today, but with not much memory of the name of the blog, I gave up. Sometimes we go searching for the perfect song to match our mood, or a quote to describe what we are going through right now or to see if there is something else out there that has been created for the idea we have in our head.
There is a relief that comes with finding it. A feeling of being understood. But sometimes you don’t find it.
Sometimes I need inspo for an outfit, but there is no one else who can create an outfit the way I would want an outfit put together anyway. Sometimes you find the quote or song to describe what you are going through but it almost feels like it takes away from how you feel. Sometimes when I come up with a business idea I want to see if someone else already does it almost to confirm it could work, but if it already exists, would we really need another brand that provides the same thing?
Sometimes we are scared to create and this could be because our ideas feel a little too original. It can make you feel a little too alone and what if we are not understood, especially if it hasn’t been done before? We hear it time and time again about ‘niching down’, but what if you don’t know your niche yet or your niche doesn’t exist at all? It sometimes feels better to create using a formula that already works. You see influencers copy other influencers, and you see fashion brands ripping off other fashion brands, you see the same storyline again and again making every movie so predictable.
I might never find that blog but there was a reason it resonated with me so much. The reason I wanted to find the blog from all those years ago in the first place was for inspiration for what to blog about. I needed permission to write my raw thoughts, feelings and views without feeling cringy.
I know I want to create authentic from the heart blog posts and I needed to know other people are out here doing the same to make me feel less afraid to. But in reality, no one can write the words I can write, and share what I have to share. The book you want to read, is the book you must write. Even if no one else is sharing their most random deep thoughts on the internet, that doesn’t mean I can’t. Bringing something different to the table that no one else can should be your superpower.
People remember the original. I always remember this quote if I am ever scared to do something different or scared to be judged,’ Not everyone will understand you, but the ones that do will never forget you, and I truly believe that.
If anyone on here has a blog where they also share their deep thoughts on the internet or blog about street style rather than just showing their outfits on Instagram, I would love to read your blogs. Make sure to drop your URL below.
