Birthday Blues

We are posting a day early compared to our usual Sunday schedule as today is actually my Birthday!
Those memes on how people always end up crying on their birthday not only are funny but has also been true ( I mean, don’t all jokes have some truth?). Maybe people just have high expectations as they feel it is a day about them, and feel disappointed when it doesn’t reach their idea of perfect.

I find Birthdays, very bittersweet. I didn’t mind birthdays as a sign of getting older until I got to 24/25, and now I understand that feeling that people older than me used to talk about when it was their birthday.
Regardless, Birthday, are to be celebrated! It’s another year of your life that you have got through. I always try and remind myself that ageing is a privilege denied to many.

It doesn’t help that my birthday also falls around Blue Monday every year which is supposed to be the saddest day of the year. Something about having your birthday in Jan after the festive period is depressing in itself.

Saying all that, I am always eternally grateful for another year.I am grateful for 27 especially because I really feel like I am finding myself, and navigating my 20’s the best I can. Everyone knows it’s not easy but I am proud of how far I have come. I feel like this year will be a year of a lot of growth and I look forward to everything life throws my way.

So here’s to 27!
