I’ve not posted any fashion-related content in a while mainly because I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go in when it came to fashion, style and what I could bring that is different to the conversation.
Then I thought, how great of an idea it would be to talk about some of my favourite outfits I have worn, the thought process behind the styling and why I love them so much. When it comes to fashion, I know my style better than anyone else, and explaining the fit may inspire you to create an outfit with a similar vibe and adapt it around your own personal style.
There is nothing quite like being inspired by yourself!
This outfit is one of my favourites mainly because I have that grungy side to me however I rarely get to show that side off me off. The Hundred is also a brand I had known about for years that mainly makes skatewear. I fell in love with this top due to the electric colour scheme and knew I needed to style this top around the shocking statment hues. I picked out the colour from their logo and found the perfect heels to go with them! As the top is quite dark, it is easy to ‘grunge it up’ by layering it with mesh, adding leather and finishing off the look with a barbed wire chain.
From one extreme to the other, my usual vibe is classy and girly with a twist. I have never found the right way to style this playsuit and I knew I didn’t want to ‘dress it up’ as that would be too predictable. A pink biker jacket and a silver croc print bag added the right amount of a rough edge without losing the elegance and princessy look of the outfit. This has me written all over it.
If I am ever wearing neutral, I promise you, I will not make it look boring…something about this outfit makes me feel out of this world (hence the timeless quote as a caption!). The healed boots were so unique and almost reminded me of space boots. The shirt was also unique with a cold shoulder and oversized sleeves. The glasses and skirt gave a 90’s vibe making it impossible to place this outfit in a moment in time which is what I love most about it.
Mixing up textures you wouldn’t think to is my favourite way to elevate an outfit. The feather top with the beaded skirt would not look as ‘quality’ pieces as they do without each other. I actually got the skirt second-hand for £10 and the top was heavily discounted as it was from a brand I worked for at the time. However, the outfit is not giving ‘found in the sale’. That is the beauty of knowing how to put an outfit together and styling your outfit in a way that tells a different story.
Both this top and skirt were made to make your waist look tiny and it worked giving the perfect silhouette. Even though this skirt was part of a coord, I purchased just the skirt as the top was not my vibe. This top in the pic is made from a really similar material which made the outfit just flow. A unique shirt with a girly skirt (these are actually shorts!) is a mix of personalities that you definitely need confidence to pull off. As you can tell from this and all my other outfits, I love to colour coordinate, this outfit was my favourite palette by far.
These five outifts were my favourites mainly due to how I styled them. I love playing dress up and I LOVE exploring my personal style. I know no one else could have put these outfits together the way I have and I love how ‘me’ they are.
Let me know in the comments if there are any other outfits you want the BTS styling inspo or any style inspo I should try!
